THE BEGINNING

One Student.
One Simple Dream.

In 2004, Rotoya Goodwin was nineteen years old and studying at Howard University. A neighbor asked whether she might teach their daughter to play piano. She said yes, cleared a corner of her family's living room, and set up a secondhand keyboard.

More than 20 years later, that single lesson has grown into Pee Wee Piano, one of Prince George's County's premier childcare and music education centers, serving more than 5,000 children.

Today, Pee Wee Piano is built on one simple belief: from inspiring music education to exceptional childcare, this is where music, learning, and fun come together to help children learn, grow, and thrive.

How We Got Here

It All Started With One Piano Lesson

While attending Howard University, founder Rotoya Goodwin began teaching piano lessons to one student with a simple dream — to help children discover the confidence, creativity, and joy that music brings.

Then

More Than Music Lessons

What began as a passion for teaching music grew into a place where children experience so much more than childcare — a safe, encouraging environment where they build confidence, develop new skills, and discover their God-given potential.

Programs Grew With Families

As the needs of families grew, so did our programs. What started with music lessons expanded into before- and after-school childcare, summer camp, and a growing music education program that continues to inspire young learners every day.

Today

More Than 5,000 Children

Today, Pee Wee Piano serves children ages 4–13 through exceptional childcare and engaging music education — one of Prince George's County's premier centers, trusted by families for more than 20 years.

What I admire most about Pee Wee Piano is the caring staff and the way they nurture every child to discover their God-given gifts and talents. Pee Wee Piano truly invests in the whole child.
